Thursday April 23rd from 7pm until 9pm at Parsons Green Club
An evening with Roger Taylor (ex British Number One tennis player) and Marcus Buckland (TV broadcaster).
Roger and Marcus are in the middle of a nationwide tour of tennis clubs and literary festivals to promote and sell some signed copies of Roger's book.
Roger will talk very openly about his three near-misses at Wimbledon, especially his run to the semi-finals in 1973 when he came within one game of the final while being at the centre of the boycott controversy that consumed the nation that summer.
He also goes into detail about his time as Great Britain Davis cup captain during the Rusedski-Herman era that was far from plain sailing.
He is honest in his assessment of various contemporaries, including his one time brother-in-law David Lloyd and Bjorn Borg with whom he forged a life-long friendship.
How he nearly succeeded Sean Connery as 007 is another fascinating story.
The chance to win Wimbledon ground passes, tour the broadcasting area at Wimbledon and have a drink with Roger and Marcus is another good reason to come along and buy the book.
Guests are more than welcome.
It is FREE for all PGC members to attend and is an opportunity to buy the signed book.
There will be nibbles served after the talk.
